Tenders

Some of the tenders in Cozumel are Party Boats that hold up to 400 people. Most tenders hold between 100-150 people.

Yep, ships always tender in Grand Cayman. Port there isn't deep enough for ships to dock. Also, I've heard that the really close to shore there is some protected coral reefs that they don't want to destroy.

The tenders are the ships life boats, each holds about 150-200 passengers each

Know this is your first cruise so the tender thing is new to you ... BUT ... honestly you don't need to worry about the tender!

Per above posters ... Tenders are nice STURDY smaller boats! (Promise it's not an inflated life raft!)

The main reason most folks dislike Tender Ports is because it often takes much longer to get to the port than it does when you can just walk off of the ship. Normally, there is a line to get on the tender... and the ship issues tender tickets so expect a bit of a delay ... but it's not that bad.

Just think of it as a short ride on a little safe boat from your ship to the dock and enjoy the view!

You'll be fine!

craftinmom .... Welcome back!

Please tell us what you thought about your "tender" ride! Knew you were concerned and would really love to know. Feel sure your reply will help others who have never tendered.

It was just fine! As was most of everything else I had worried about before leaving! The tenders in Princess Cays and Grand Cayman were about 100 people per boat but in Cozumel you use their tenders and they hold about 300 people. All was perfect, just as you said!!
