Since cruising has become so popular and lots of the Caribbean ports are subject to overcrowding (which we all hate), I try to check the Cruise Calendar site www.cruisecal.com before I book. I just booked on the Maasdam for October 17th because there were fewer ships in port for that itinerary than the next one on the 28th (two ships in St. Thomas as opposed to six). Of course, this doesn't help much if my plans aren't flexible but at least I'll know what to expect.

. FYI, Wednesday at St Martin, Caribbean Princess, Exporer of the Seas, Carnival Glory and Carnival Valor (I think) and a sailing cruise ship at anchor. I St. Thomas three ships at Havensite dock and two at the Crown Bay port. Towns and beaches where wall to wall people. It was stil a great time. I'll have a review of the Caribbean Princess eastern carib itinerary soon (I hope)
Thanks so much for this great site! Always good to know what to expect!
