Halifax -- More than 100 passengers and crew on a cruise ship docked in Halifax have been sickened by a bug believed to be norovirus.

That isn't the first time this season.People on the NY to Quebec run were telling us that the previous run had had problems. ( We're in Halifax) Antibacterial hand wash was posted everywhere and the buffet closed, they said.How often does this happen? Does anyone have any idea?

Many times, passengers get infected while on their flight to their embarkation city. They may feel fine when boarding the ship, and then get sick. In the meantime, they have passed on the virus.

I was amazed onboard the Crown the number of people that walked right by the sanitizing station... and you bet your butt, that I had something to say to them... I am not exactly quiet....

I noticed that, too, Dolores! Even when there were 2 stations at the beginning and end of the entrances! The one on the wall is not that noticeable, but the bottle standing right there where you pick up your plate is quite obvious.

No hand sanitizer, no fork. What do you think?

Good idea!

I remember on my Alaskan cruise in 2004 on the Sapphire that the waitstaff passed out the silverware in the buffet after you got some sanitizer. On my next cruise, the Purell was on the table next to the silverware when you first entered. But no crew member making sure you used it.

PLEASE ..... Let's all remember that when the previous cruise had a problem, the crew/staff is so likely to have been infected ... and pass it along.

Honestly, it's easy to blame it on careless passengers ... which is so often NOT the case ... much more likely to have been the cruise ship crew/staff ....
