I don`t pay attention to people who really bad mouth a ship. They are the ones who go around looking for something to talk about. Half of it is made up to get a rise out of other folks. There hasn`t been a ship that we have been on that didn`t have bad reviews. So don`t worry about what they say. Go! Have a good time. Then we can talk about what a super ship you had such a good time on.
Have you picked any excursions? I had one picked out and it is not listed on the latest lists. It was a 4X4 trip around Aruba I think. I will have to try closer to our cruise.
Boy you are a real night owl !! You probably are going to bed as we're getting up !! (5:15am) ha. agree with you, have never had a bad cruise or vacation of any sort. think people go away with expectations that are way too high or as in cruises, expect service beyond imagination and then bad mouth it all when doesn't happen. only thing that can go wrong on our vac. is the weather & even then always have contingency plans for rain etc. the 1st ingredient you have to have when going away is to like the person (s) company you are going with, we're best friends ( for 15 yrs before getting married) besides being married, so enjoy each others company totally. a vacation is not going to make you friends if not already. hope am explaining it right.
all our excursions are booked, on Aruba going to DePalm island ,swimming, snorkeling, water park etc. Granada taking a tour of the island and Grand Etang National Park & Annandale water falls. Dominica going to Rain forest and Jaco Falls. Bonaire just going to go into town and then stay on ship, only in port 1/2 day. then St Thomas, taking the Atlantis submarine tour and then we hired another CLF member boyconny, "Spiderman" tours, to take us sightseeing & to downtown Charlotte Amalie for some shopping. we've been to St Thomas before. so did the Coral World ( on our own) and snorkeling at Coki Beach again on our own before. only have one day at sea on this trip, so the day at Bonaire will be a nice one.
have a good day and take care both of you.

No. You would have a little more rest between my bed time and your alarm clock. An hour and a half anyway.
We have had some rain. But it didn`t slow down the fun. Half of our Alaska cruise was rainy. Still went on all our excursions. Panned for gold while it was pouring. Wouldn`t trade the experience for anything. We are good traveling partners too. Only knew each other 9 months before we got married. That was 37 years ago in May. So I think I know exacly what you mean. Even on road trips Jean does the maps forme and I don`t get excited if she makes a boo boo. We go on "adventures" until we find our way to where we are going.
You will love the submarine tour. That was our first excursion on our first cruise. Hope you have a sunny day for it. Ours was cloudy and it was great.
I just had to look it up. We only have San Juan and St Thomas in common. We go to Tortola, Antigua,St Lucia and Barbados. I guess it is like summer and winter schedules. So now you can tell me about the islands we don`t get to go to this trip. Since we haven`t been to any of the others it will be all new to us.
Just thought of something. If you would like to see some of our pictures on webshots I am kstazman2629.

our next cruise is Alaska, was going do it next before this one but then read that the cruise lines were considering eliminating some of the very southern ports cause of the fuel costs (this was last Sept) so decide better do this one 1st. will do Alaska in 2 yrs. next yr is either Disney w/ grandkids et al or trip along the Fl keys to Key West.
so then we'll be able to exchange info on the islands, been to Antigua only, know everyone extols it's beaches but we weren't impressed. might have been the beach we were taken to by shore excursion ?? it was terrible, lounges were falling apart, didn't have enough for all of us, no water sports, a hut for a food place & not cleanest, and our free drinks came out of a cooler sitting in the hot sun, and while waiting in line for the bus to take us, got bit by something on foot, that by end of day, was blown up, & red streaks up my leg !! good thing bought 1st aid cream & anti itch cream w/ me. got dropped off in one of the poor parts of town and was not a comfortable walk back to ship. only good thing was found this quaint shop selling org paintings from local artists, and got a pretty one of beach & sunset in a lovely oval wood frame for barely nothing. if it moved up to the tourist area would make a killing, not in an area that they go to or prob should.haha.
I'm a real bad navigator !! don't know north from south, east from west !! get lost even here on our island and how hard can that be?? haha. but Jim is patient w/ me and is used to it. we love car trips, not so much now w/ gas prices but used to go for rides every wknd. it's funny, go across the bridge into NJ and gas drops .10 or more ! we're going there this wknd to see friends, and we always let the car get low and fill up there. just shows you that it can be cheap if states cut back on taxes.
did you see the thread in the main section here today about Princess changing/cancelling some cruises for next year? seems that it's moving alot of its ships over to Europe, cheaper to run and they think will be a larger demand there, so will be less of them here, sooo.... tough luck on people who might have booked already. they did that to us on this cruise, was supposed to go mid-April,booked 9/08. in Nov our TA called to tell us it was cancelled, a movie co booked the ship for 3 wks in April for a movie shoot, so had to re-book. no big deal for us, can take our vac anytime, but others?? got an upgrade in cabin, ship bd credit and they had to pay the airline fees for changing our flight. so made out fine. but the ones who are locked into vac times ?? and makes me wonder how much they really care about their passengers, that they do this not once but again?? prob will see alot of things like this in coming mos till we get out of the mess we're in. I look at it that we're darn lucky and very glad that we're in a position to be able to take cruises or even vacations !! and we should be able to stay that way.
have a good night, Debbie

We are lucky about time off too. Jean works for a small company so it is easy enough to change things around. And when we had to stay at sea for two extra days in `04 all she had to do was give a call and they gave her as much time as she needed.
And since I have basically been retired for 13 years it isn`t a problem. Doctor`s appointments and hair cuts are about it for me. So far we have made all our flights and cruises. Most excursions have been fun. Been to some places that didn`t look the best. But we had a good time. Scared a lot of people when we took off on our own in Belize. Strolled through the city where most tourists don`t go. Stopped and talked with the locals. Learned a good deal in one afternoon. Have a picture of Jean with a boa around her shoulders. Little guy who had it was a college professor studying them.
Our gas is still reasonable. About $1.90. Was below $1.50 for several months. So we still drive pretty much where ever we want. Our town is small compared to what you all are used to. The whole area is 150,00. That is several small towns included.

I too work for a small co and Jim works for a big one but gets so much time off ( been there 20 yrs now) so no prob too. I am hoping to retire 2 yrs from this Dec. will do something part time, but no more F/T. Jim still has 10 yrs to go.
Jims been to Belize, he did a cruise w/his co. to western caribbean, he liked the places but not the cruiseline, NCL. won't ever get him on it again. ha. we don't mind wandering on our own, did it in St Thomas,& Nassau. Did a dolphin tour there, if did w/ the ship would have only gotten to sit on platform & touched them. But we booked w/ same place on own & got to swim in the water w/ them& I rode on them. but this time, except for Aruba & Bonaire, didn't know enough about the islands to go off alone too much.
Jean sounds very adventurous, she & I would prob get along good. Jim will go along w/ me, only to make sure I'm alright ( to keep me in check too ha) but he's not a happy camper sometimes doing some stuff. On our honeymoon, dragged him to an alligator farm, and poor guy ended up with one in his lap, supervised of course, but still, the last person there wanted this, .
your town sounds like my daughters down in GA, total is 5600. very rural !! a farm town, she has horse, goat, dogs, cats, had a pig but he started to go wild so had to have him put down. lives on 9 acres. you would go nuts here, just our roads would shock you.
did you check our other thread? talked about my cruise & how it's booked full up !!
