Shot! I wasn`t being a pain!!!! Have to try harder.

Thanks for the critique. The cruise experience soon boils down to the people. We have had a good time on all our cruises. Some not as good. Elation was one. And believe it or not the ncl cruise of Hawaii. We loved everything that wasn`t on the ship. To us it was a hotel and that was it. Their free style dining was quite bad. Especially at dinner time. Send back two different dishes. And you can ask Jean I wouldn`t do that unless something was ineatable.I would rather avoid making a fuss.

We like the traditional style where you make friends at the table that comes from seeing them most evey meal. And the waiters get to know us too. We had a wonderful experience on Dawn Princess. Part of why we booked while still on board.

Yes John, you'll have to do like Avis, "Try Harder", lol.

I have not cruised on any of Carnival's Fantasy Class ships, the class of ships the Elation belong to, but they are very popular ships. I've cruised with NCL once, and I had no problem with the Freestyle Dining. I am one who prefers Freestyle Dining over Traditional dining. so it comes down to personal preference.
I think you'll like the Caribbean Princess.

Yes there is always a choice about things. We have friends who don`t share the table with us on cruises since they like the later option. We meet for drinks in the late afternoon. Then a nightcap after the main show. And there have been others who don`t like to dress for dinner so they eat in the buffet.

I think we will signup for the hotel/transfers package that Princess has. Kind of out of my comfort zone on this one. And I have goofed up on hotel reservations while on the main land. Have you all used this feature?

Sure hope football doesn`t take up all the time on the outdoor movie screen. That would be a bummer for us anyway.

John, I'm not one to do buffet for dinner, lol.

We flew into San Juan the morning of our cruise on the Crown Princess, did not purchase the airport transfers, and don't plan to unless I'm in a distant and unfamiliar land. I find it's much quicker to grab a taxi and head to the port.

Don't worry John, football and sports will not consume all the time on the outdoor movie screen, it never does.

We only did buffet once for dinner. Got back to the ship after early seating. Wasn`t near the fun as the dining room.

I did have my TA add the hotel and tranferes to our cruise.Just playing it safe in my old age.

Sure am excited to try a new size Princess ship. A new adventure. And the new islands are exciting too. Puerto Rico and St. Thomas are the only ones we have been to. After a couple of years away it will be good to get back to the Caribbean. Plus a friend of ours from our RCI cruises has signed up to go with us. So that was good news.Have not seen them in 5 years.

Good tohear that sports won`t be hijacking the big screne.Iwas told on a different thread that it did during playoffs.

I totally understand adding the transfers, making things easier at your age, John.

You're sailing on Dec 2009, so yes, you'll see lots of NFL Playoff games but they only take place on weekends. You'll have the week nights for your movies, and even on weekend nights, they'll show the feature movies after the games.

I have been hearing that there are good prices on other cruises. I was going through our papers and finally noticed our discount for booking on board. Half price. Best price we have ever gotten. Plus the onboard credit. Can tip glasses for a couple of days on the company.

Glad they don`t totally turn the movie venue over to the NFL.

Char do you have any idea when they are going to fix the forum? Still no notifications, colors or changing the cruise dates on the boards.

Wish I could give you some dates, but we haven't been told yet. Below is the last public post that Tim made about it. I'm hoping we will be hearing something new any day now.
