Question What is your favorite Canadian port?

I currently am trying to decide if I should take a west coast cruise (Los Angeles to Vancouver) or east coast cruise (NYC RT). Both include two Canadian ports. So far, I have been to Niagara Falls twice, but not the coastal provinces, so I need some ideas.

If I take a CANE cruise, two stops will be Halifax and St. Johns in New Brunswick. If I sail on the West Coast, my last two stops are Victoria (literally all day long) and Vancouver.(for debarkation). Is one side better than the other in ways that travel books and sites do not tell you about? Which province is your favorite?

BTW I do not speak or read French at all as I only know a tiny bit. Let me know if that matters on the East Coast.

I enjoyed both Halifax and St Johns, both english speaking cities. Only Quebec is french speaking on the east coast and even there most people speak english. A trip out to Peggys cove is well worth it at Halifax as is the Maritime museum with the Titanic exhibits.

I would have to say Quebec, so different from anything else you will find in North America.

I'd go with Quebec on the East side and Victoria out West.

Would you care to give me some reasons for that?

Victoria is a beautiful city. It has a very British influence. Since I have not been to the east coast of Canada, I can not comment on that side.
