Anyone Been on the Rocky Mountaineer Train?

While not a cruise, it is part of a cruise tour so would be interested in any details you might have.

Also the difference between REd Leaf Service and Gold Leaf Service? There sure is a big price difference

Thanks

Jim

I have not done this Jim, although I have seen the train travelling up the Fraser Canyon several times. It has been a very highly rated tour, with magnificant scenery. If you search "Rocky Mountain Rail Tours" I am sure you will lots of info.

It seems quite expenses, though.......:headbang2

It is Brooke........I have been to the website and it isn't cheap.....especially if you go from Banff to Vancouver and then do a 7 day cruise........

I guess I just need someone to tell me it is worth it

There was an Austrialian son and father on my most recent Alaskan cruise, they did this. The 3 day trip from Banff to Vancouver. They LOVED it! They couldn't stop raving about how wonderful it was.

But then again this man is a retired doctor who spent 17 days precruise touring Canada, so I am sure money wasn't too big of a issue for him!

Maybe I should leave DW home and take a retired doctor NOT

Jim; You really want Gold Leaf Service and yeah I know it's a $500 per person upgrade (approximate figure). The difference is in Gold Leaf they handle your luggage from the train to your hotel room in Kamloops. The train stops in Kamloops for the night so you don't miss the spectacular scenery. With Red Leaf you hustle your own luggage. Gold Leaf also gets fresh, cooked, hot food-red leaf does not always get this benefit. Gold Leaf sits at the top of the train in panoramic domes to see EVERYTHING-Red Leaf does not! Gold Leaf gets the beverage of your choice delivered to your seat-Red Leaf has a lounge car way, far back in the boonies. Gold Leaf also gets the best room in the house at the hotel-Red Leaf gets whatever......

My Signature 27 cruises and countin'!
Next cruise, July 12-26, 2008. NCL Jade 13 night cruise around the British Isles, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris.

I know........I appreciate that info........but that would be an extra $1,000 bucks............

Have you actually taken this? Recommend it?

I appreciate all your info........frubals to you.

Jim
