Boston, Massachusetts is a New England city that is chock full of history. It seems that at almost every turn there is another important building, train, memorial, etc. that commemorates the birth of our country. It’s a great city to spend some time exploring either pre or post cruise.
Anyone departing on a cruise from Boston will leave from the Black Falcon Cruise ship terminal. Most out of town visitors will arrive into Boston’s Logan International Airport. A short taxi ride (approximately 10 minutes) at a cost of about $18 (costs are high due to airport fees and toll fees for the Ted Williams Bridge) will get you from the airport to the pier.
For those wanting to explore a little of this great town, here are a few points of interest.
Freedom Trail – a 2 ½ mile trail through the heart of Downtown Boston that commerates some of the greatest moments in our country’s history. Start off at Boston Commons where there is an information book where you can pick up a brochure and a walking map for the trail
Quincy Market – located on the Freedom trail and adjacent to Fanueil Hall, Quincy Market is a mixture of an indoor and outdoor pedestrian market and shopping and dining area. It’s a great place to come for an afternoon stroll, pick up some great food, and do some people watching. Its certainly a place not to be missed on any trip to Boston.
Harvard University – as the oldest institution of higher learning in the country, make a trip out to Cambridge and visit Harvard University. There is such an aura about the school and a history there that visitors should take some time to take a quick walking tour of the campus. The same goes for MIT not too far away from Harvard
Fenway Park – as one of the most recognizable baseball stadiums in the United States, it’s a sports fans dream to take a tour of the park and the see the Green Monster, or if you have a free night and its baseball season and the Red Sox are in town, check out a baseball game.

It is a well-traveled part of Boston's "Freedom Trail." The Marketplace is a five-minute walk to the New England Aquarium, The Children's Museum, The Old State House, and Paul Revere's House. Other attractions that are between 7-15 minutes away include The New State House, The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Public Garden, Old North Church, The USS Constitution, and Fenway Park.
