Question Can anyone tell me about San Diego?

We will be leaving out of San Diego in October. I'm not sure if we will have to spend time with family in LA first , but if not, does anyone have recommendations for pre-cruise stays in that city?

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

MC did you ever find any first hand info on San Diego? Did you decide where to stay? We will be faced with the same decision one year later in October as we do our 15 day Panama Canal cruise...........let me know if you booked a hotel and where you are staying.

We are now flying into LA. I do not know if we will drive to SD on the day of the cruise or the day before. My sister in LA is pregnant, and due right around when leave, so all plans are UP in the air!

I found the best one-way fare to LA (and SD) on Southwest when they were having a sale - if that helps.

I haven't been there, but my daughter and SIL flew out there for their Panama Canal full transit cruise. They loved the city and wished that they had more time to explore. There is much to see. I don't remember the hotel, but it was one of the more upscale chains. I imagine there are many.

Thanks to MC and Kathy...........we too are doing a full canal transit......just wondered how many extra days to spend in San Diego. That is where we start and then go to Ft. Lauderdale.........15 days.

Anyone else has info on San Diego I would appreciate it.

I bet you would not be surprise if I said I have sailed out of there,

As I recall the Holiday Inn is right across the street from the dock.
The airport is very close to the pier. You can see the planes coming and going from the pier. If flying into San Diego take a cab to the dock. (under $10) I will see if I can find the webcam for the pier.

Here is the link in San Diego.

You can control the camera. When the camera is pointed at the cruise dock the hotel I mentioned in on the right.

John was that holiday inn nice? When you say right across the street from the pier.......walking distance? Even with suitcases or do you need some type of transportation?

    Thanks
