Has anyone taken the Los Angeles City Tour offered by the cruise lines at the end of their cruise?
Being from the area, I'm just curious what people though about it.

I haven't Alisa but would love to hear what it includes and whether it is worth the money...thanks for asking this![]()
From the ones I've seen (I've looked at the RCI one and the NCL one) they say that its a 5 hour trip which includes a trip to the new Walt Disney Concert Hall or the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion (former home of the Academy Awards), a drive through the Beverly Hills neighborhoods and past Rodeo Drive. The RCI trip stops at The Grove/Farmers Market for lunch. The NCL trip takes you to Olvera Street where the heart of the city of LA began. Then of course there is a stop at the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Mann's Chinese theater before getting dropped at the airport or your hotel.
For me personally, being from this area I think the $50+ that's charged is a bit of a rip off. You really don't get to see too much at all.

I never knew how much it was..........but if you have never been there (like us) and don't want to mess with the traffic and let someone else drive, maybe that isn't too bad.
I grew up in San Diego and never saw many of those places. I for one wouldn't want to brave the traffic. I hate the traffic.
Boston is a city that you can walk. Totally changed coast here. That is a city that I wouldn't do a tour.
Helen
Helen, I agree with you there. Last time in Boston when we were at the end of the cruise we didn't take a city tour. We actually rented a car and did everything on our own... Walking would have been a nice idea, but not with luggage!

I'm gonna concur with Alisa on this one...based on the itinerary she's listed, $50 for the excursion is barely allowing you time to scratch the surface of LA. A drive by of Beverly Hills is unimpressive and unless you're actually shopping on Rodeo, there's nothing to see but traffic if you're stuck on a bus...It's just a bunch of stores!!!!
The Farmers Market and the Mann's Chinese Theatre are 2 common points of interests for tourists, but the tour itself sounds like you're on the bus staring at mansions for a while...it's not like you'll see a lot of stars laying out on their lawns or anything....
yeah the tour states that due to Beverly Hills city codes, the tour bus needs to stick to main roads and cant go deep into neighborhoods. also its just a drive by of Rodeo Drive and not a stop at all.

Alisa...so then...what's the point?? The tours are seeing maybe 15 - 20 square miles of LA and that's it...not really much at all if you ask moi...
I completely agree Jodi!
But I think that some people who have never been here before won't know the difference and they'll book the tour!
I think a better idea would be for people to rent a car after their cruise is over for like $40 and then drive themselves around the town and see the things they want to see and skip the rest of the stuff!
