    New San Diego Cruise Terminal

San Diego Sets Open House for New Cruise Pavilion

November 02, 2010 10:23 PM Reported from TRAVEL PULSE.

The Port of San Diego will host an open house and dedication of the new Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier on Dec. 18. The open house is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the dedication at 4 p.m. Broadway Pier is at North Harbor Drive and West Broadway.
Scheduled speakers are San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders and Port Commission member Michael Bixler. Activities will include children’s activities, a travel fair, public tours and a cruise travel giveaway.
The Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier will serve as a public event center and cruise ship terminal. The modern, two-story center will be the Port of San Diego’s first “green” building. The $28 million project is designed and built to use less water and energy. In addition, cruise ships that will berth at the pavilion and the port’s main cruise ship terminal at the B Street Pier will use shore-side electrical power resulting in less pollution from diesel-burning engines. Thanks for posting this, Jen!
I had not heard about the new addition to the San Diego port area.

    Are you going?

No, I can't go. I am on the Mariner until the 19th. But it looks like it's going to be really nice! When I was in SD in May for a TA tour, they showed us all the plans and drawings. Much nicer than the current terminal. (if you could call it that)!

Looking forward to seeing it on our Princess West Coast cruise in Sept!

Was something wrong with the B Street Pier or is this just making a good thing better?

For years I dreamed about taking a Hawaii cruise out of San Diego. Only the cost of a home ($500,000 for 1,000 square feet) prevents me from living in that fun city.
