November 02, 2010 10:23 PM Reported from TRAVEL PULSE.
The Port of San Diego will host an open house and dedication of the new Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier on Dec. 18. The open house is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the dedication at 4 p.m. Broadway Pier is at North Harbor Drive and West Broadway.
Scheduled speakers are San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders and Port Commission member Michael Bixler. Activities will include children’s activities, a travel fair, public tours and a cruise travel giveaway.
The Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier will serve as a public event center and cruise ship terminal. The modern, two-story center will be the Port of San Diego’s first “green” building. The $28 million project is designed and built to use less water and energy. In addition, cruise ships that will berth at the pavilion and the port’s main cruise ship terminal at the B Street Pier will use shore-side electrical power resulting in less pollution from diesel-burning engines.
