Residents of Avalon on Catalina Island are being evacuated to Long Beach due to a major fire.

BTW, this is the second major fire in Southern California this week. On Tuesday, a major fire broke out into the Griffith Park area, which is known for the LA Zoo, the Gene Autry museum, the Greek Theater, and a major wilderness area.

This morning one man was interviewed at the ticket counter for the Catalina Express (the boat you can take from Long Beach to Catalina). He wanted tickets for his family as his sister was getting married tomorrow. The reporter expressed doubts that the wedding was going to happen, at least not tomorrow on Catalina. But the guy was sure. Then the reporter indicated his four kids, as in aren't you going to expose your kids to all that smoke? And the man said, oh, we're used to smoke, we live in Yosemite.
