    San Diego Port News

The Port of San Diego will, in June, get its first year-round home-ported vessel, Carnival's Elation.

The ship will alternate four and five night Baja itineries, calling at Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, and Ensenada.

According to an article on the port's website, the addition of a home ported vessel will add $240 million in business and 1600 jobs to the area.

It is good news for San Diego.

I do like how the reports on how many jobs it creates. Of those 1600 jobs, how many do you suppose are part time?

    Gee, I couldn't even hazard a guess.
But the article did name a number of related areas they expected to see a boost in business. The ones named were: food companies, linen services, trucking companies, landside tour companies, and florists.

Like throwing a pebble in a pond, and seeing the ripple effect, isn't it?

That would be a nice alternative for those of us who've been on the same cruise over and over again out of San Pedro.
