San Pedro Lodging Reccomendation

Does anyone have a reccomended place to stay in San Pedro. I've been looking online for our stay the night before our cruise but it's hard to tell from the computer.

Thanks

I can tell you about two:

We weren't leaving on a cruise, just sending some friends off on one, but they all stayed at the Holiday Inn, San Pedro. It looked o.k. (there's NO charm to the location, but it looked clean, and I think the rates were good- about 2 miles closer to the cruise terminal, too)

We stayed just down the street at the Marina Inn in San Pedro, and it was a much nicer location. We even had breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Marina. They're in the midst of upgrading the rooms, but it's fairly attractive. The only downside is that it's a function hotel, and they had two weddings while we were there- made the lobby a little chaotic. We got the rooms for $92.00 ea on Priceline. Can't remember what our friends paid at Holiday Inn, but they're all on CLF, so maybe they'll chime in...

Oh, this was just in March of this year...

If you are arriving early in the day prior to your departure.. you may want to consider a hotel "in" Long Beach some offer shuttles to the pier and the resturants on Pine Street are supurb.

Just a thought.

Just be aware that San Pedro is not one of your more picturesque areas. It's primarily an industrial area (the Harbor of LA) and a residential area (the past mayor of LA lives here). It seems many cruisers find a hotel in Long Beach, Redondo Beach, Santa Monica, Marina del Rey. You just need to check on if a shuttle is available (make sure they're taking you to the World Cruise Center and not Long Beach harbor which is mainly for Carnival cruises).

Thanks for the input. We are going to pickup a rental car at LAX when we arrive so we can do some sightseeing. The car agency told us we could drop off at the terminal...so we won't need a shuttle. I'm thinking Long Beach may be where we look next. Any suggestions for that area? I just don't want to end up in a bad area. :thumbsdow

And Willie.....maybe you should think about breaking away from the group and going down a day early with us? We're gonna have fun!! Plus we will beat you to the ship...

I would think with all the time you spend on this site you would know one of the biggest rules.......No saving chairs besides you know you are going to be way to giddy to sit still anyway!

I will glady have a beautiful glass of something blended waiting for you though!

Joey ~ Ocean Drive will be my next search, thanks! I want to start spoiling myself right away, even before I'm onboard so I can get into a vacation state of mind.

I'll let you know what I come up with and get your opinion.
