    Hotels in Long Beach/San Pedro?

We will be sailing Oct. 29 on the Vision. Does anyone have a recommendation for a hotel? A couple of years ago we stayed at a Sheraton through the cruise line but I don't think they book that one now. It looks like they book the Hyatt Regency Long Beach. Is this a good choice? I remember where we stayed the last time was real close to ship and also to a big shopping village that had a yummy restaurant.
    Any suggestions appreciated!

The Hyatt is nice. So is the Renaissance in Long Beach. They are both near the redeveloped area of Long Beach. Lots of good restaurants there.

Do you have a particular price range in mind?

Wait il you see it now! They built anohter huge entertainment comples called "the Pike" (after the old amusement park that was there....) Lots of new restaurants a couple of new bars, book stores, a Gameworks, movie theatres, etc....

Both the Hyatt and the Renaissance are directly across the street and EASY walking distance to The Pike and/or Shoreline Village (the one that looks like a East Coast fishing village...) where there are more restaurants and shops...

Both are great hotels to be in to have fun....

It's been a while since I've been to Long Beach. Where is this new "Pike" complex? I'll have to check it out when I'm there this summer...

It's literally right across the street from the Hyatt and the Convention Center. It used to be a big vacant lot they used for parking for the convention center. It takes up the entire block on Shoreline Drive from Pine Street over past the Aquarium. Also, just across the street on Shoreline (katy-corner from the Hyatt) they've bult three new restaurants...PF Changs, Gladstones and Tokyo Wako (sushi & teppan.)

In "The Pike" itself, there's a Cinema, a Borders bookstore, a Gameworks, An Irish pub (which I happen to love) called the Auld Dubliner as well as shops, an ice cream store and other stuff. There's also a small Ferris Wheel and they're putting in a Laugh Factory.

There's a foot bridge over to the Aquarium area and the small marina on the south side of Shorline Drive and it's railings are shaped like a roller coaster - as an acknowledgement of the old Pike roller coaster that was there so long ago....

I'm there all the time for business and now I'm thrilled that there's so much to do down there!

Thanks for the info, TerilynnS. I was born & raised in Long Beach, although I haven't lived there for a long time. It's great that they're revitalizing that area. I've actually never made it to the Aquarium yet. I think I know what's on my itinerary for at least one or two days this summer...

I always wanted to ride the roller coaster at the Pike (most of the Pike was long gone by that time, except for the midway.) My parents wouldn't let me go anywhere near that roller coaster, and when the car that went out over the ocean kept going into the ocean, my parents knew they'd been right....

I've stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Long Beach last month before going on the Sapphire Princess Cruise. The Renaissance Hotel has been upgraded with the past year. The pool/and hot tub are located outside on the 3rd floor over looking Ocean Ave.

Here's a link for Long Beach:

We went to Long Beach today for the first time in years to go to the Aquarium. We really enjoyed it. We got our hands stamped and caught a free bus to the Shoreline Village for lunch. Looking at the nearby Queen mary, we started wondering about the story that it's haunted. Has anyone else heard this and what the origin of the story is?????

We've been to the Pike several times. It's a nice place to eat, shop, etc. A little bit further down is also a 2nd shopping area in a little "village." The YardHouse and other restaurants are there as well.
