I had a cove balcony on the inaugural Transatlantic. I loved being down closer to the water. A lot of Carnival fans are disgruntled about the regular balconies because the promenade extends beyond their part of the ship and they can't look straight down to the water, and those below can look up and see them. Cove balconies are more private. EM

I like being close to the water. It makes the cruise that much more real to me.

Wow, just watched a Youtube video about cove balconies. Deck 2, is that right? It looks amazing, I think that I would love it! However, hubby gets motion sickness, so maybe not so much for him

And can you believe that they originally planned similar balconies for the lower floor?

No way, that looks as close to the water that you can possibly get on such a huge ship! You were so close, you could see the waves slapping against the boat, almost as though you could touch them!

You are still about three stories up from what I read.

"Micky Arison, chairman of Carnival Corp. and plc, said he wanted another row of cove balconies even closer to the water line, on Deck 1, and tried to obtain government approval, but he was unsuccessful. Deck 1 passengers in outside cabins get a window."

And in this interview they are discussing the balconies on TWO decks.

Oh, and our own Zy has a wonderful set of pictures of the cove balcony on his web site. Carnival Dream Cove Balconies

I LOVE that site, Neal! Thank you for sharing it with us. I googled 'cove balconies' last night and could not find anything as detailed and with so many photos as that site.

*deep sigh* time to plan another cruise!
