    Question NCL Aft Balcony

2nd cruise and have an opportunity to book the Aft Balcony on the Jewel or the Gem for about $50 more than the side balcony room. Worth it? Pros and Cons? Is it quieter then a normal side balcony room? How's the motion (we are traveling out of NYC for the first time in Nov we have only gone out of Miami before and worried about motion, noise etc).

    Thoughts are appreciated.

Personally, we really like the aft cabins as they'll usually offer a larger balcony.

While you won't feel as much motion as you would in the front of the ship, you'll often feel some vibration from the engines, which we've never minded.

However, sailing out of NY/NJ you'll be in the Atlantic, which can often have big waves and provide for some interesting affects.

The aft cabins can sometimes offer great views, which is why we like them. But as for being quieter, I would say about the same, except sometimes the noise of the water can be a little more in the back.

I just booked 4 aft cabins on the Jewel for 2012. First time on NCL and really looking forward to it. In 2012 we are sailing out of Miami. We LOVE the aft cabins. More private, anyone walking back there has a cabin there, not a going through to get somewhere else. The views are outstanding and very relaxing. Good luck on your choice.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Love, love, LOVE the aft!!! We had an AE on the Pearl for our last cruise (don't remember the designation for it now...the lowest end suite) and it was just awesome!! I have problems with motion as I have an inner ear issue that I developed about 4 years ago and the aft doesn't bother me. I did however have some issues in the front during the show because of some wave action heading to the Dominican Republic. It's very quiet on the aft. You might have a little soot, but nothing to get worked up about. I know the Atlantic is a different creature than sailing out of Miami, but I would do it. I don't think you will regret it.
