Question Can a balcony be a useless waste of money on some cruises?

Are there cruises/itineraries where having a balcony is a usless waste of money?

Not to me! We always use our balconies no matter what the weather. In fact, if the weather is bad, having a balcony to step out onto is a big plus. We haven't had a balcony yet that was unusable. We prefer the aft balconies because they are deeper than the side balconies and the chairs can be moved back toward the cabin to get out of the wind or rain.

    Some people would say so.

I have read where some say they would never use a baclony in Alaska or the Baltic. I don't know we have used ours in both areas. To watch as we arrive in a port and to watch as we leave a port. We have sat on our verandah while viewing the glaciers.

I don't think it's a waste of money at all. It's our own personal 50 sq. ft. outside space

I also enjoy the balcony in bad weather. I do get seasick in rough seas and being outside in the rain hearing the waves can help calm it.

Sometimes just knowing you can pop outside is nice!

We always enjoy having one. We love having them in Alaska and will get one when we do the Baltics.

I don't think I could call them a usless waste of money. Probably could survive a Caribbean sailing without one but have had some Great experiences with them in places like Alaska where some people think they would never use them. Really has come in handy for picture taking without having to fight the crowds on the public decks.

I don't think so...unless the cruise port was the north or south pole. Might be too chilly.

    Exactly ....

While we enjoyed ours very much on a Baltic Cruise, it was in July!

Probably there are some VERY cold itineraries where I'd just want to SEE outside, not BE outside!
