In most places, that should not be a problem. However, we had a balcony on the highest deck with cabins on our last cruise (Deck 8), and we had waves coming over our balcony. It was also a once in a lifetime storm though. There's always a risk, but it is very small, imo.

And the doors are sealed so there should not be a problem. Did anyone else notice the drains on the floor of the cove balconies?

No leaking for us when we were in a balcony cabin and had a freak storm in January. High water was on the balcony and splashing against the glass door ... but none came in. They did make announcements for us NOT to open balcony doors. Why anyone would have wanted to open his balcony door in that storm is beyond me ....

I think that you will always find no matter what the weather there will be someone who thinks it is a good idea to take a look outside.

For me a Balcony is not usually worth the price. Because I cruise solo, the supplement usually makes it rather an expensive option. However I decided why not when booking my Transatlantic cruise, it worked out very little different in price to the outside cabin I had last cruise and with a price drop just before final payment made it a great deal.

We did have squishing carpets - balcony doors to hallway door on our last cruise on the Freedom. (Deck 7)
Of course, there were hurricane force winds ... seas were a bit rough.

Bit rough used in the same sentence as hurricane force.

What do you consider, then, to be really rough?
