Cool Cabin selection on Disney magic

    Hey everyone,

We're going to be cruising on the Disney Magic, 7 day, Eastern Caribbean We have a Veranda Cabin on Deck 6, but after reading the threads, I noticed that we are above the Kids area and a bathroom. We can move up one deck to deck 7, (for a little x-tra cash) does anyone have any advice/knowledge about the Magic and these two decks? Is it worth the upgrade?

Also, wife gets seasick, Magic seems to be an older boat, should we try for a cabin that is mid-ships?

    Thanks,

Wish I could help on the cabin location, but...I can't.
If DW gets seasick, mid ship is best. Also you might try to pick up a motion sickness wrist band (Walgreens has them). I know people who swear by them. Also take some ginger candy as that seems to help also.

Someone should come along soon with some better answers.

    And welcome aboard too!

Thanks Hanna. She's tried all of the items (she gets car sick also) bands, seasick pills, ginger, etc. So, I want to minimize the motion on the ship, as a precaution.

I honestly don't think being above the kids room is a problem... I have sailed the wonder and send many clients on these ships.

Seasickness... mid ship is best... and of course the things that Hanna mentioned.

    Good luck...

Whether to worry about being above the kids area depends on when you plan to do your sleeping, how tall the deck is between that deck and yours, and whether that area is wide open with lots of echo space. My guess is, the kids area will probably be carpeted and heavily padded in order to capture and cut the noise level (a typical acoustical trick for kid spaces). You're probably okay in that regard. I'm not sure the bathroom would be that much of an issue, as your neighbors will have bathrooms next to and around your room. As long as you're not below the pool deck or over a dance club... You don't want someone dragging chairs or stomping and thumping around over your head late at night and early in the morning. It looks like you've been studying your deck plans carefully and thinking about it.

As for the seasickness...I suffer from that as well. People recommend mid-ship, but I'm going to go one further and suggest the lower you are on the ship, the better. You can't get a balcony if you're on deck 2, but you feel a lot less movement in the bottom of the ship. If seasickness is a *serious* problem, you might consider that. I used the prescription patches that go behind the ear, and I was still popping ginger root pills 3 times a day on my last cruise. I think on my next one, I'm going to go back down to the bottom of the ship. They don't call it "steerage" anymore and there's no shame in the lower decks.
