yikes, I think this is bad news......

I have a choice between a cabin below the Northern Lights Lounge or the galley. Both are located on the Main Deck of the Zuiderdam. Which would be the best of the bad choice I have to make? Any help would be appreciated. I asked if we could pay to uopgrade but no....balconies no longer available and nothing on a higher deck in OV. I paid for a DD Guarantee.......yeah, I know, I am getting pretty much what I paid for. Never again will I be silly enought to think I would get upgraded to a higher deck, better cabin. What is really bad is that I truly paid too much for this guarantee. Live and learn. Oh well, I have a very quick decision to make.........any thoughtss on which cabin might offer the best night's rest?

I have the deck plan do you have cabin #'s??
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

This is tough. Northern Lights opens at 9 PM and closes around 1 or 2 AM dependinf on how many people are there.

The kitchen nevers stops as there is cookiing all the time going on.

Being as you haven't given us the exact cabin number choices you have ---

I would go with the galley location. There isn't loud music there.

I think I agree with Yonnie on this one. Northern Lights puts out a fair amount of music late at night with a lot of base. The rumbling of the base would annoy me personally.

The area below the galley is, well, which galley are you referring to? There are several on the ship each with a different function. Having taken the galley tour, I did not feel that the noise level was all that high and there are mats on the floor so I don't think the noise level would be that much higher than the general areas of the ship.

On my first cruise, we were "upgraded" to a cabin under a dining room. So I heard vacuuming late at night. But I would guess that if you have to choose between a galley and a nightclub, it may be better to go with the galley. At least you shouldn't get any vibration.

On your next cruise, if you do have the opportunity to get the cable you want, you can mark your booking "no upgrade." You won't get a higher category without spending the extra money, but you won't have any nasty surprises either.
