I guess it would depend on the ship and not all will fit the canal. We did the Panama on the Coral Princess and we chose the mini-suite because of the tub size shower. We didn't think we wanted to put up with the small shower for two weeks. We went in late September and it wasn't that humid luckily. As you know, the minis are on the Dolphin deck and everyone can see your full, not monty, but balcony. Coming down the coast, the rain down pours were so heavy, you couldn't see beyond the railing, and some lightning strikes were so close by, you wouldn't dare stand out on the balcony. I would prefer a covered balcony if I was doing the Caribbean, and have used the balcony a lot, even at nights if it's warm.

Like nearly everyone else, I voted for the latter. Actually, I think it was our transit of the Panama on Infinity (our first M-Class cruise) in an aft CC that kept us from ever again considering an M-Class cruise without an aft CC or FV cabin, and we've stuck to it! We've taken a Sky Suite only on the C-Class ships, and then only on Deck 12.

The new Solstice class certainly creates some new possibilities with aft Sky Suites, though. Since the balconies aren't even close to those of an M-Class, it would tempting to buy the additional space, but verandas out back don't appear to be any bigger than those of the CC cabins.
