has any one had a cat E1 aft balcony on the Independence/Freedom or Liberty of the Seas? We have 7408 & 8410. 7408 looks like it is always shady. Is this right?

I wouldnt imagine you would be in the shade "all the time" as it would all depend when the sun is shining on the ship. Personally I would prefer the cabin on deck 9 or higher. I have heard reports of soot problems out on the aft balconies when the ship is leaving port or starting up the engines. Thats why I said deck 9 or higher as those cabins will be sheltered by the Windjammer overhang.
Also somthing to think about is the rather long walk to the stair or elevators.

With any of the balcony cabins it totally depends on which way the sun is hitting the ship. I've never been in one that was always shady certain times of the day for the entire cruise.

The aft balcony cabins are great! You'll enjoy!

It sure is. I wouldnt mind having one of those.
The "long" walk to the elevators & stairs are worth it IMO good execise too
