    Question Handicapped Accessible Cabins

I just booked a cruise on the Carnival Freedom July 18th, 2009. The only suite left was #7228 which is handicapped accessible? If someone needs this cabin where will they put me? Will I get upgraded or downgraded? Anyone know?

Welcome to our friendly cruise community!

There is a lot of time between now and when you cruise, so there is the possibility that your handicapped accessible cabin might be needed for someone with a disability. Also that another suite will become available and you could be moved to a regular suite.

I have not heard of being downgraded from a suite, however that doesn't mean it couldn't happen. In that case the cruise line would probably give you some kind of compensation.

I'm sure one of our Carnival cruisers or travel agent members will be able to give you more specific info.

Hi, Cabin 7228 is a Cat. 12 Suite. This is not a handicapped accessible cabin, according to Carnival. If it were, you would not be switched because it's the highest category cabin and the only Cat. 12 Suite available when you booked.
Carnival does not downgrade any of it's guests, so as it stands right now, you will retain #7228, even if it were a handicapped cabin and a handicapped guest wanted that cabin. Had there been other Cat 12 cabins available, then yes, they would have switched you, but not downgrade your accommodations.

    Thanks Ken!

It's good to have someone who knows which cabins are handicapped to give our poster the good news!

I agree with Ken, I doubt they will down grade you.

I'm wondering if a handicapped person wanted to book that cabin, maybe Carnival would make a "move over" offer to entice you to take a different cruise.

I believe Ken has ascertained that the cabin in question isn't a handicapped cabin. Since that is the case, then the OP has no worries.

But, this is very good info for those who find themselves in a handicapped cabin and are wondering what precedent has been set in the past.

Assuming all the Conquest class are the same (which I think Carnival does)

Bill, that deck plan surely does show the OP's cabin to be an accessible suite! A picture is worth a thousand words! Thanks!

The Carnival Rep. I spoke to last week gave me wrong info. Spoke to another tonight who did say it is a wheelchair accessible cabin.

Again, Carnival does not downgrade their guests.
