    Question beds in oceanview room

Looking at Carnival, they have a good rate on an oceanview room. It would be myself, wife and 2 boys, 14 & 8. I was told there are 2 beds that flip down out of the wall. never having been on a cruise before, would these be ok for one of my sons in each? Are they a twin size or smaller? Wondering if I should just get 2 rooms.

    Hi Matt! Welcome to CLF!

The beds that flip down from the wall are actually comfy enough for the boys ... at least twin size ... more like a big twin. I had to sleep in one on one cruise when our daughter sprained her foot and couldn't climb up ... no problem.

Understand your problem with the ages of your boys. Certainly, two cabins are better BUT it's a comfort to know where are ... especially since it's your first cruise. Enjoy the boys while you can. There'll be lots of times later for better cabins.

    Go for it!

As LuLu said, it won't be a problem having the two boys in the same room - they'll find it fun to climb up the ladder to their beds - sort of like a bunk bed configuration. If you'd like more privacy and two bathrooms, you can get connecting cabins and have a door between the two cabins - sort of like a 2-room suite. Cost a little bit more but at least you can close the door after the kids go to sleep and give yourselve a little privacy. Plus it'll give you a 2nd bathroom, which can come in handy. Ask your agent to price both 4 in one cabin and 2 in each with connecting cabins and see if the difference in price is worth it to you or not.

We've used the pull down beds for our third person (our girl) ever since we felt she was old enough (there is a railing up there). Before that, hubby got the top bunk.

When you go to dinner, your cabin steward will pull down the bunk beds and do the turndown service, and return the beds to the wall or ceiling during the day while making up the cabin.

Unfortunately, you might not be able to push the bottom twins together.

If you do go for the separate cabins, make sure your TA gets the two together, and that the booking is marked "no upgrade."

Marvelous advice here from everyone. Especially the part about enjoying the boys.
