I heard that in the middle, you don't hear much as you do from the front or back.
Mel, mid ship is always a good deal. More calm if you have rough seas and usually located away from elevators so less noise.
I'll be in room 7654 for her October 19th sailing. If you have any questions or want any specific pictures just send me a PM and I'll try to get them for you while onboard.

Smile Carnival Fantasy Class (and others)

Interior cabins aft, near where the stack comes up from the engine room will have a fairly loud constant noise level that is not heard at all up front.

This great info was posted by Red Sonja:
There is a lot to consider depending on your ship and itinerary but I learned one lesson the hard way... the gangplank is on the starboard side of the ship so if you are on a lower deck, it is very loud first thing in the morning. Especially debarkation day! We were woken at about 3:30am.

Also, the tenders are released from starboard side so if you are mid level or higher on the ship, you will get to hear this racket first thing.

If you like to sleep in late at all, sleep port side.

If anyone has had, reads about, or hears of a bad cabin, please feel free to post it here. The more we are able to warn people of these, the happier our CLF cruiser's will be.

Carnival
Conquest 7369---all empty space around it is Crew work areas

Conquest 6456 & 6458---right above the lounge

Glory 8356---Restaurant is right above you and chairs are always being drug around, day and night

Inspiration V42---obstructed view means NO view

Legend 4226---balcony is 1/2 the size of a normal one, even though it looks big on deck plans

Liberty 8434---right below Versailles pool and Pizzeria

Spirit Class---the category 11 aft on deck 5, is not worth the money

Triumph 8410---it's below pool deck and they clean it from 11pm to 5am

Triumph/Victory 6244---you are right above speakers in show lounge

Fantasy Class (and others)---Interior cabins aft, near where the stack comes up from the engine room, will have a fairly loud constant noise level that is not heard at all up front.

Celebrity
Century 1026---late night deck parties are LOUD

Holland America
Prisendam 507---tiny cabin at only 139 sq ft and is more or less, wall-to-wall bed

HAL R class ships 2500, 2501, 2502, 2503, and 2504---are incredibly small

Rotterdam 1912---above engine room, where an alarm is tested several times during the day

HAL S class ships 304, 305, 306, 307, 308, 309, 310, and 311---loud music from the two nightly shows and the 1am rehearsals

Statendam 333---right across from the laundry room and people do theirs at all times of night

Vista ships---All VF's forward on deck 4, have solid steel panels instead of Plexiglas railings on balconies

Volendam 3319---banging of doors to outside deck at all hours

Norweigian
Norweigian Pearl 11524---directly under free weights and machines in gym

Princess
Caribbean suite 732---is right above Club Fusion

Crown R333---scraping of chairs and people walking from above

Golden E514---lounge below you and lifeboat outside window is used for tendering ports

Royal Caribbean
Majesty OTS 1562---pool above you gets drained and refilled nightly and is loud

Radiance OTS 7640---right above you is the Schooner bar

Radiance OTS 9252 & 9652---window washing ladder is stored at both

Radiance OTS 9254 & 9654---only half of balcony is usable, as the other half is under part of the superstructure of the ship.

Radiance OTS---The last 2 cabins on both the port and starboard sides of the ships before the aft/stern cabins. Long walk and lousy cabins.

Serenade OTS 7122---lifeboats below have a huge overhang and you can't see the water below from your balcony

Vision OTS---Any port side cabin on the 4th deck. It seems to smell like sewage all the time.

Vision OTS 2600---above the gangway used for port days & disembarkation and is loud

Voyager OTS 6694---JS cabin is longer than side ones but is narrower
