Tony, maybe you can get a "feel" for what the weather conditions are like when you're passing by in April ....

It depends how far into the Gulf the storm goes, and how strong the storm is to begin with, among other factors. Storms that hit Texas and Mexico are probably not going to touch Bermuda.

Tony, Bermuda doesn't get the same weather as other Caribbean islands. It does get cool there in spring and fall, so if you're going for water sport activities, the water could be chilly.

We went to Bermuda in September and Tropical Storm Hannah joined us for the first part of our voyage We did our muster drill early and indoors where the Captain announced that if anyone had seasick remedies, take them NOW since they were expecting us to be sailing in 25 - 30 foot seas We were in the front of the ship and woke up in the middle of the night when we both had to grab onto things and each other for fear we would go airborne off our bed. That ship was making a whole lot of noise Like Finely Cruising's cruise, we had seasick bags every so many feet and the crew was doing a lot of wet-vacuuming everywhere the following day when we were in 15 - 20 foot seas. I get seasick, DH does not, and even he was starting to get tired of the constant rough motion. I was so happy to get to Bermuda (and land) that I debated kissing the ground!

Tony, October is still hurricane season so if you're very concerned about avoiding hurricanes and tropical storms, April or May might be the safer choice. In April the average high is 71 and May's average high is 75. In September the average high is 84, October 80. Bermuda is absolutely beautiful, so it was worth the rough trip over (once I could finally keep food down ) to see it.

I know it is still hurricane season , but I think it will be tailing off then and even more so in the Bermuda region. Can't go next year in May sincewe are sailing to the UK at that time. I am hoping to fit in in this Autumn, and October seems the best time for us.

Sean is an example of how hurricanes & tropical storms can and do hit Bermuda in November.

With less than a week to go before cruising to Bermuda, I hope the great weather in May will continue.

The winds were strong, and the weather was chilly last week, sailing to Bermuda on the Celebrity Summit. With the constant winds, and temps only in the upper 60's to low 70's, many resorted to jackets, plus wrapping themselves in beach towels, just to lay out by the pool. I wasn't about to pay $69 USD in the gift shop for a hooded sweatshirt! On the day of our departure from Bermuda, we had driving winds and squall lines of rain, where you couldn't see Hamilton or any other land across the bay. Bummer! No beach time! And the water temperature was 70 degrees or less!
