    Bertha to Brush Bermuda?

    Maybe . . . maybe not.

The track she takes over the next couple of days will, hopefully, make that cleaarer.

But they are watching her carefully, and ar good at preparations there.

We on CLF hlpe that the storm will both greatly weaken and turn away before reaching Bermuda.

You bet we are praying She has been weakening, but could reintesify and is still pretty far out, only watching will tell.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Yup, has to pass on the right, to the left would be a lot worse

    Dr Jeff Masters, this morning:

    The track forecast
Bertha is slowing down and turning northward as it "feels" the approach of a trough of low pressure to the north. All of the computer model turn Bertha northwards east of Bermuda, and it currently appears that the island will feel only peripheral effects of Bertha. However, the trough of low pressure turning Bertha to the north will not be strong enough to fully drag the storm into the far North Atlantic, so Bertha will wander close to Bermuda early next week while it waits for another trough of low pressure to finish the job. It is very unlikely Bertha will threaten the U.S., but it could eventually affect the Maritime Provinces of Canada

    From the 5 PM Advisory:

Location: About 660 Miles Southeast Of Bermuda.

Moving Toward The Northwest Near 12 Mph.
A Gradual Turn Toward The North-northwest With A Decrease In Forward Speed Is Expected During The Next Couple Of Days.

maximum Sustained Winds Are Near 105 Mph with Higher Gusts. Additional Strengthening Is Forecast During The Next 24 Hours And Bertha Could Again Become A Major Hurricane.

Large Swells And High Surf Could Begin Affecting Portions Of Bermuda Tonight Or Tomorrow

Excerpted from the 11 pm discussion:

IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT ALL OF THE MODELS SHOW A RELATIVELY SLOW MOTION AT AROUND 72 HOURS...NOT FAR EAST OF BERMUDA...AND BERTHA COULD MOVE ERRATICALLY DURING THAT TIME FRAME. THEREFORE... INTERESTS ON THAT ISLAND SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF BERTHA FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.

CONSIDERING THE COMBINED FORECAST UNCERTAINTIES IN THE TRACK ... INTENSITY ... AND SIZE OF BERTHA ... THERE IS ALREADY A 43% CHANCE THAT BERMUDA WILL EXPERIENCE SUSTAINED WINDS OF TROPICAL STORM FORCE DURING THE NEXT FIVE DAYS...

    From Jeff Masters, Friday Morning

Hurricane Bertha continues trundling along towards Bermuda, but is not in a hurry to get there. The storm has a rather sloppy appearance on satellite loops . . . Bertha will probably start to intensify today now that this Eyewall Replacement Cycle (ERC) is done. Wind shear is low . . . and water temperatures are warm . . . Intensification back to Category 2 status seems probable, and Bertha still has an outside chance at reaching Category 3 status again.

We are sailing to Bermuda next Sat. so should be ok...But what does RCI do to re-route? Another island? or... just stay at sea? Do you happen to know? Thanks.
