Does anyone know if you can purchase bus passes at the west end where the big ships dock? I was wondering if we could buy them before we took the ferry to Hamilton. I read we could buy them in Hamilton which I suppose we could do when we got there. Thanks Lisa

Yes you can at the visitors center near the dock, they only take cash!!

What kind of cash, Sue? Do they take the US dollar as well as the Bermuda dollar?

On Tuesday from the Visitor's Center near the docks we purchased two 3-day bus passes ($28 @) which are also good on the ferries. At the same time, we got a Bermuda Heritage Pass at $25 @. The Visitor's Center only takes cash. No plastic.

What is the difference between both of those passes? What does the Bermuda Heritage Pass get for you?

US dollars as well as the Bermuda dollar? Or must one exchange the US currency?

Buy a Museum Pass. The Bermuda Heritage Pass allows you unlimited access to eight of Bermuda's leading museums and attractions-including the Bermuda Exploration Institute, the Maritime History Museum and the excellent Aquarium and Zoo. Cost: $35 for adults, $17.50 for kids under 14. Passes are good for four days and available at participating hotels and Visitor Service Bureaus.

I think that they take american dollars as well as Bermudiam money. Did you use your bus pass enough to get the most out of it? We are on a 5 day cruise so I am wondering with our 2 days in Bermuda if it will be worth it for our family of four to buy the passes. I would like to go to the aquarium with the kids and go to St George for a visit. I suppose by the time you add up all of the fares a two day pass may be worth it. Then you don't have to deal with the exact fares on the buses. Lisa

The bus pass is really the way to go. Remember that the bus pass is also good for the ferries. Yes they do take US dollars.

Since I just got back from Bermuda a couple weeks ago, I wanted to post some information.

As of 9/8/08 the price of a transportation pass is $12.00 pp 1 day, or $20.00 pp for 2 days. These passes are good for unlimited service on all ferries and buses.

We docked at King's Wharf aka Dock Yard.

There was a building right on the other side of the Dock Terminal building (after walking through the building, come out and look to your left) with two windows, one window accepted cash only, the other accepted credit cards or cash.

If it's crowded, turn around and look across the water (ship would be behind you), you'll see a small white building (looks like an office trailer) across the water, this is the Ferry Dock for Hamilton & St. George and this is also a place to buy your transportation passes. Again, cash was being accepted at only one window, while the other window was for credit cards or cash. We went to this building since there must have been over 100 people in line at the building closest to the Ship.

We paid in US Dollars and received change in US Dollars. US Dollars are accepted all over Bermuda.
