Belize to be aired on NBC’s Today Show – “Ends of the Earth”

Belize City, Friday, November 14, 2008 – Belize is known for its pristine waters and wildlife that are seen throughout the country. Our homeland by the sea attracts many people and it has caught the attention of one of the most watched television networks, NBC. Our country was chosen to be in “Today’s” second edition of “Ends of the Earth”.

Last year, “NBC Today Show” broadcasted its first edition of “Ends of the Earth” whereby “Today” anchors were dispatched to the top, bottom, and middle of the globe to explore the extraordinary effects of climate change.

The second edition will bring viewers to four profoundly remarkable, yet vulnerable destinations, one being Belize. The adventure will start on November 17th as part of the “Green is Universal” Initiative, “Green Week”, a companywide, weeklong programming effort dedicated to raising environmental awareness. The NBC crew will travel to unique destinations to examine the changing environment’s effect on the world’s most precious resource, water.

Matt Lauer, an anchor of NBC Today Show will be in Belize to explore our natural wildlife and natural wonders of our famous Blue Hole and Half Moon Caye. He will show the effects of global development and explore risks to the landscape, the wildlife, and the people who live in various areas. It is known that Belize is best known not only for what is on its land but also for what is under its water.

“The coverage Belize will be receiving from being featured on NBC’s “Ends of the Earth” is an excellent avenue for exposure in the international market,” comments the Director of Tourism, Mrs. Tracy Panton. “Belize has a plethora of natural attractions to present to potential visitors and awareness is crucial in a growing tourism industry such as our own and the unique quality and diversity offered by our tourism product must be continuously shared with everyone.”

Stay tuned on the morning of November 17th and 18th as Matt Lauer helps viewers understand the pressures put on our precious resources by climate change, population growth, and pollution.

The NBC Television Network broadcasts approximately 5,000 hours of TV programming each year, transmitting to more than 200 affiliated stations across the United States. These independently owned affiliates then broadcast the NBC signal to an estimated 99 percent of all homes in the United States with television sets. In addition to airing NBC’s national programming, affiliates serve their communities by producing news, sports, and public affairs programming that address local needs.

Awesome Donald, how exciting, I'll be sure to watch it, thanks for the heads up
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
