The airport (Philip Goldson International) is operating normally for regional and international flights.
There was no major damage in Belize City, Western, or Southern Belize.
In Northern Belize, there was some damage, incluging some structural damage and beach erosion on Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker. Water, electricity and telephone services have been restored nationwide, except for north Ambergris Caye, and a couple of other districts in the north.
The government of Belize declared an "all clear" for the entire country at midday on Tuesday, Aug. 21. It reported that most hotels and businesses are open and operational. Hurricane Dean made landfall in southern Mexico early on Tuesday morning with the southern edge passing through Belize's northern region. The country experienced heavy rains, localized flooding and large waves along the coast. According to the government's assessment, there was no damage sustained in Belize City and in Western and Southern Belize. Northern Belize experienced the greatest impact, while the islands of Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker have limited structural damage, battered foliage, debris, and some level of beach erosion. Water, electricity and telephone services have been restored on the islands and remain available in every region of the country with the exception of north Ambergris Caye, Corozal and Orange Walk districts in the North.
The Philip Goldson International Airport is open for daily operations to both regional and international destinations. Tropic Air and Maya Island Air, Belize's local air carriers, have resumed normal flight service to the San Pedro on Ambergris Caye and continue to fly to all other regions of the country. Major U.S.-based airlines, including American Airlines, Continental Airlines and US Airways, have resumed their normal schedule of flights into Belize. The country's port did not receive any structural damage and is fully operational.
Hotels located in Belize City, Western Belize, Southern Belize and Caye Caulker have reported no damage and are opened. Some hotels located on the island of Ambergris Caye reported minor structural damages. Of those that did indicate they had damage, all of them anticipated opening and operating by Aug. 23. Some hotels located in Belize's northernmost district, Corozal, reported structural damage, but most of the hotels in Corozal will be open and operating by Friday, Aug. 24.

Carnival has taken Belize off the itinerary for all of their ships for next week. So far, they have not done so for the following week, so, hopefully, Belize will be 100% in another week.
I haven't found any details of why this might ve. Perhaps just general clean-up and getting public services all back up?
