A Belize City tour unlike any other, expereince Belize by a horse-drawn carriage and open tour wagon. Enjoy all that is Belize City as you are taken on an intimate and quaint tour of its’ cathedrals, swinging bridges, beautifully restored colonial mansions, elite residential areas and tropical gardens. Your tour starts with a quaint and charming horse-drawn carriage ride along the shores of the Caribbean Sea. You will stop at the “Baron Bliss Memorial Tomb and Light House” before passing “The Memorial Park,” built in honor of the Belizean Heroes that went to fight in World War I and II. Your tour will also visit what was formerly "Her Majesty’s Prison;" built in 1857, now an impeccably refurbished building, that will take you from olden times to present day Belize. You will see some of the most treasured artifacts and prized collections in Belize.
After 30 minutes at the museum, your guide will unravel historical myths and Belizean folklore as you enjoy the picturesque view and the fresh breezes while passing through many popular sites. As you enter the city’s first elite residential area you will stop at the Green Patch Nursery.
As your tour proceeds, you will board a tour wagon--an open air motorized carriage--to see the remainder of magical Belize City. You will move in a southerly direction passing through the Customs and Port-authority area. Next, you will visit St. John’s Cathedral, a notable wonder established in 1812, and recognized as the oldest church in Central America. Afterwards, get ready for the fast paced and crowded streets of the downtown commercial center that has preserved many historical landmarks such as ‘Battlefield Park,’ used for public meetings held in Belizeans’ quest for self governance, the first public building that hosted the National Assembly and Prime Minister’s office, the Supreme Court and the oldest supermarket established in 1887.
Moving on, you will ride over the only functional, manually operated, swinging bridge in the world. This is a great photo stop as the river is filled with local fishing boats. Your tour will end at the Fort Street Tourism Village. Note: If rain is forecast for day of visit, it is suggested to bring a rain jacket.

    This sounds like fun!
I may try to get DH to do this on our next Belizean call.

    Thanks, Carol!
