Thread: Absentee Ballot When Away for a Cruise

This is an interesting question I had never thought about. It seems like every time we hear or read about absentee voting, the media never mentions people traveling outside America (or for presidential primaires, any of its territories) for vacations.

My first cruise will start on Mother's Day weekend, so I will still be home for the 2013 primary election. I don't know about the other years, but this year Florida's primary election day is January 31.

It seems to be working fine. The best part is when the last minute political calls come in and I cut them off and say "I already voted"

I was able to say that on Election Day when I voted in the morning and got a call in the afternoon. Unfortunately, hearing a live person is a rarity these days. Most politicians have been making robocalls instead.

Definitely yes. In fact, we'll have to do it this year since we'll be cruising during the election period. When we lived in Atlanta, I always voted an "absentee" ballot because it was so crazy at the polling place with long lines. With my artificial knee and ankle, standing in lines isn't my favorite thing. Here in North Carolina, they have early voting and we can go to the polls a few weeks before the election. That makes it nice--no long lines!
