22" is the maximum size for carry-on bags. 25" is too big no matter what they say on the luggage website.

But then again, I've almost never seen any of the cruise line measure the carry-ons and I've seen some pretty large ones being allowed.

However, the maximum size on the airlines' websites is 22" and that's the size they'll use to determine whether you're allowed to carry it on or not.

    Question

Thanks for clearing that up Pete.

Next question: After skate wheels, what is most important for the bag's durability?

Reinforced edges. That's where they get the most wear and tear. Next is a good zipper! But any of the good brands will have all this.

We also use a luggage strap and locks.

And never NEVER put anything in your suitcase that you don't want stolen. Carry all your medications, laptops or netbooks, cameras, cell phones, binoculars, etc. with you in a carry-on or backpack.

I learned the hard way that includes jewelry. I felt like an idiot as it became obvious I will never get a limited edition necklace back - and can't reorder it. Thank God it only cost me $80, not $800.
