    Some thoughts before Cruising:

    Some thoughts before Cruising:

--Don't look at how long the lines are, fill your time by studying fellow cruisers.

--Don't just go to dinner, go to a DINNER PARTY.

--Don't just visit a port, go on an ADVENTURE.

--When the cruise line screws up, put it in perspective, then respond appropriately, not emotionally.

--Don't dwell on the steak that was tough, make a note of food that excited you.

--When you order a drink, clink glasses (in toast) to your spouse or fellow traveler.

--You have your own life memorized, stop and listen to what others have to say.

--If you find that you're not "clicking" with someone remember that you still have 2,847 other people to meet. (and 1400 crew)

--Small town people do this easily...say "HI" to everyone you meet in the hallway.

--Elevators are the best places to chat (next to martini bars).

--Never forget to say, "THANK YOU" to cruise employees for any service they provide.

--Respect fellow cruisers whether it's giving up a poolside chair or wearing what's appropriate to the MDR.

--When you see a person taking a picture of their spouse/friend, offer to take a picture of them together.

--Instead of griping that I can't smoke a cigar on my veranda, I'll take an extra one to the smoking area to offer a fellow cigar smoker.

--Whenever you get a chance, look at yourself in the mirror...and smile.(This one might surprise you)

--Take many things in life seriously, but don't include yourself.

    Gerat advice Charlene.
This one especially made me smile. After our first cruise where we got used to smiling and saying hi to passers by, I was in Costco back home a few days later and started talking to a woman near the frozen foods . Pure carryover from the cruise experience.

Yes always say thank you but also say Please.

Take the trouble to look at the crew member's nametage or ask them and address them by name and smile at them.

I have seen people who are drama queens post and you can always spot them.

I will never cruise this line again ...not enough food choices in the buffet, didnt like the hours, plastic ware in my cabin ... If Im never cruising a line again ...it wouldnt be over I had a plastic glass in my bathroom.

Someone was carrying on because one got early dinner and their spouse got late ..go deal with it. dont make mountains out of molehills.

There is sure to be some little thing you dont like. I dont think any cruise is 100% perfection. Get over it.

My hubby usually offers to take others' photos. Often others will reciprocate, but hubby is very picky about composition and will tell the nice person to make sure not to cut off our feet or head in the photo. Since it's a digital camera, he probably shouldn't give direction on this as he can always just delete photos he doesn't like later on.

But he makes up for it by being friendly to everyone.

I sure wish the name tags had the names printed in larger type. As I get older the font seems to get smaller. There is no higher regard then when you take the time to use one's name!! Just watch them smile!!
