    Yup it would show up as a dense object and might bear additional scrutiny. Best to play it safe with stuff like that.

    John, rechargable batteries (camera, laptop, etc. type) should go in your carry-on.

    Last time I flew, everyone who boarded prior took up the overhead space so my carry-on had to be checked boarding the plane and I was digging in it to get the extra battery out

    I learned to pack light when I was traveling by myself for the first time and had to cart all that stuff

    If we were going on that cruise, I'd pack the following for DH: 4 or 5 different colored dress shirts, 2 suits, 5 ties for the formal & semi-formal (trick is to choose different shirt & tie combinations to make it look like you brought more clothes than you did) and 3 pairs of trousers and 5 shirts for the smart casual. To change it up and get a different look, you could wear a dress shirt (less the tie) for smart casual a couple times.
