Hey Marius! Welcome to our friendly cruise community!

I have not heard that it was mandatory for Canadians.
I believe your travel agent would have sold you the insurance when you booked the cruise if that was the case.

I do know that the UK requires it, though.

Personally, I wouldn't leave home without it!

Agree completely with Char: wouldn't leave home without it!

While I've never had to call upon a carrier to cover me, when I was a travel agent there were way too many instances when insurance rescued an entire family's vacation investment.

Experts suggest that you analyze whether or not you can afford to lose the xty-nine bucks you've decided to invest in your "special" cruise? If you can't, then you MUST invest in a plan that will help youhold on to your money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, those of us who are travel agents in the U.S. cannot sell Princess cruises to anyone other than U.S., Mexican, and Canadian citizens. So I cannot answer the question for UK citizens. I did hear something from someone on here that there is some type of law that requires the cruise fare to include travel insurance. Don't know if that's correct or not, but it's what I heard. Never had that problem with any other cruise lines or any other parts of the world as I have clients from many different countries.

With that said, Canadian citizens are NOT required to have the travel insurance. However, it's something that I always suggest. You hope it's a waste of your money, because if you need it, it's usually not for a good reason. But you'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it!

Almost always, except for those over about 80, independent insurance is a much better option than that offered by the cruise line as their policies usually cost more and cover less. Check with your agent for specific information on travel insurance.

There is no law in the UK to say you have to have travel insurance; however, most if not all cruise lines require you to have it.

Guess I worded it wrong! I remember one of our UK posters mentioning that it was required.

I thought I read the same thing, so if you're wrong, we're both wrong!!

But I don't know why cruise lines would require one country's citizens to have the travel insurance when others don't. Strange.

As I mentioned, I have clients all over the world and I've not heard that from any of them, not even my UK clients.
