I use my laptop to write about where we have been. It's hard to write when the place is no longer fresh in my mind. I would rather leave some of my clothes home than my laptop. And having a laptop means we get to check the internet in our PJs!

Yes, we check the internet. I try to post on CLF at least every other day from the ship, unless the ship is in the middle of a storm with 90 foot waves.
I am SO glad I had my phone with me on our last cruise! I was able to keep in contact with my Mom before, during and after Hurricane Irene, which was reassuring to both of us.

Keeps the "funky smells" to a minimum)
I don't have that problem because I have something better than a trash bag: a white mesh bag with a zipper that is specifically for wet clothes and dirty laundry. Many suitcases have someting like that inside, but only your underwear and socks may fit in them. Another idea: If your ship has laundry valet, use it!

I would love to do that, but unfortunately my mom is unable to stop worrying about me and will just think of more things to worry about. That is just the way she is. I wish I could make her stop worrying and just relax her mind during vacations.

LOL! If you meant can, not can't, that is a good joke, but a very bad idea.

I would not even bring my championship ring if I had one. Once I packed a necklace for a land trip to Florida and lost it forever. It was a limited edition necklace, so I could not buy a new one. Naturally, I am mad at myself for taking it to Orlando with me.

Andrea, we keep all of our irreplaceable items in our carryon. And no, one of our carry on bags DOES NOT get checked no matter how much the airline insists on checking it. (We have two so we will compromise with one. If a second one is required, we just say that we gave up one, now it is someone else's turn)

I would say that you probably don't need shampoo or soap as most, if not all, cruise lines provide a pretty good soap/shampoo solution. However, I have found that conditioner is usually not a staple provided so bring your own if you need it.

Don't ever suggest that to my wife! She needs hypo-allergenic soap and shampoo and would have a major rash and allergy attack if she used the ship supplied soap and shampoo. If it has a fragrance it has petrochemicals in its makeup- and that is a big NO-NO for her.

That's the reason we stick with cruiselines that have self-service laundries onboard, espeically if we're going on a longer cruise or combining a cruise with a pre-cruise stay. My daughter is allergic to regular laundry detergent. So I bring allergen-free detergent.

Very good point. I just wish Celebrity had laundry facilities. We have found that All free and clear is the best detergent out there for us. What is your preference?

My hair is short, but I can never dry the back of it. So instead of styling it, I take a shower early enough to let it dry naturally. That is a bad idea when you are going to be in a lot of photos, but I'm the one who takes a zillion pictures anyway.
