Best Place to stay in Fort Lauderdale?

We are going to Fort Lauderdale to connect with a cruise ship, where is a good / safe place to stay?

We have stayed many times at the Embassy Suites both pre and post cruise -- on 17th Street.

They no longer have free shuttle service to either the airport or the pier. But Taxis are very reasonable. You can sign up through the concierge shuttle service to the pier. But we prefer the taxis -- actually cost less.

The Embassy Suites also has a manager's cocktail (house brands and beer) from 5:30 - 7:30 every evening. Also a full complimentary breakfast every morning.

The Embassy Suites has a new restaurant which opened a couple of years ago -- very good food.

There are also lots of shops restaurants at the Harbor Shops right behind the Embassy Suites.

Many people get wine from Total Wine to take onto the ship -- especially those who sail on HAL and are permitted unlimited wine to take onto the ship.

Last time there, we stayed at the Renaissance on 17th. It was very nice. We have also stayed at La Quinta and it was ok. We have reservations this Nov at Springhill Suites.

Have you checked out this hotel - close to the airport and the cruise port, Comfort Inn Fort Lauderdale.

I received advice from a local that the Hyatt Pier 66 was a great place to stay and has what he claimed as the best view of the port. There are tower and courtyard rooms. I requested rooms in the tower and specifically rooms that were port facing. Even though we are yet to do our stay there, they were accomodating over the phone when I followed up.

We ended up staying at Hampton Inn on Sheridan. I got the the room on bookit.com for $63 a night. Shuttle from the airport and shuttle to the pier was included along with their free breakfast. It was a decent place to stay. A few fast food places next door. I would recommend it.

We stayed there pre & post cruise in October. We were dissapointed. Lots of mistskes, rooms had a fridge, checked in and not there when we got in the room. Desk seemed very confused and took a long time. We will not go there again
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

La Quinta is a nice place and looking on the facility I can say that it is safe.

When driving, it's also good to book a place with safe parking!
