When travelling to Europe, your passport must not expire until 6 months after your trip. So if your return flight home is on Oct 30th your passport must be valid until April 30th of the following year. I am sure when it comes into effect of having to have a passport that this rule will apply also.

Mine is 2013...DH's was just renewed this year, so I guess 2015.
