In the UK TA's generally charge more for less cover than a proper insurance company. I call that a rip-off. I know all about the ''take the money but only actually generate a policy if there is a claim'' scam, they do this to customers & also do it for friends so they appear to have cover without costing them anything. I am sure this would never happen in the US...
I shop around but usually buy it thru USAA since I am a veteran. They seem to have the best price.

I have purchased travel insurance, as well as every other type of insurance possible, through USAA and have only truly positive things to say about the service provided.
Exemplary. No other way to describe them.
Also, anyone can now get a checking account through USAA, even if you weren't in the military or had a family member in the military.

We've purchased our cruise insurance throught a travel agent in the past but now purchase directly online with the insurance company. I do some comparison shopping on insuremytrip's website and than go directly to the carriers website who has the insurance I'm interested in. The reason I purchase directly is that I always call the carrier directly if I have any questions that I can't figure out myself by reading the Certificate of Coverage and have them send me an e-mail confirming their answer to my questions so I have the answer in writting.
Ok, I admit it, I actuallly like reading those Certificates of Coverage and figuring out what they're really saying in all that legal verbage !![]()
