If you are Planning travel outside the United States, one of the first things you should do if you haven't already is , plan to get your passport. The US Passport be open on a Saturday to get you started.

On Saturday, March 27 only, you will not need an appointment to apply for a U.S. passport at a regional passport agency. You will be able to apply for either routine processing or pay an additional $60 for expedited processing.

Passport-themed events for adults and children will take place at regional passport agencies and thousands of passport acceptance facilities around the country. If you’ve been waiting to apply for your U.S. passport, this is the time. Apply on Passport Day in the USA 2010!

Have they started requiring appointments again to apply for a passport? I do remember in the mid-90s trying to apply for my first passport, but was never able to get through on the appointment line (it was always busy during their hours). Finally just went to a post office that had open times, but you had to wait in a long line during the limited hours.

Five years ago, we only had to go during the hours (til 3pm) at our local post office. But we had to go in person, both parents, to renew our daughter's passport. (We took her out of school about an hour early to accomplish this). Will have to do it again this summer, so I'll be checking out the passport website.

    Thanks Joey!

There will come a time when everyone who travels will need a passport and they might as well get it now since it's good for 10 years. I want to be ready to leave at a moments notice when those fantastic deals show up!

LuLu, we also always carry our passports in the US when we fly because it is the gold standard for ID. Never a problem at security or check in.
