We had to one year...not for a cruise, but I ended up in the hospital 6 days before our vacation. Fortunately, because we got the insurance and with some fast phone calls from my TA/mom, we were able to postpone the trip for 1 week and only pay a $40 difference for the flight.

We always get travel insurance...this experience makes me glad that we did...
