    Cruise Planning Timeline from Princess

Found a nice little thing on the Princess website that's worth sharing. It's called Timeline for planning your cruise, and starts off like this:

    Timeline for planning your cruise

You've worked hard to save for your dream cruise and you want to cover all your bases as you get ready to go. But planning can be stressful if you don't know where to start. Here are some tips for pulling off a glitch-free getaway.

It goes on to outline what to do in the various pre-cruise stages, including

    Thinking about a cruise
    Six months or more ahead
    Two months ahead
    One month ahead
    Two weeks ahead
    One week ahead
    Three days ahead
    One day ahead

That's very helpful info. I would just change the date to book the cruise by as six months may not be early enough to get the type of category you want on some Princess cruises. Especially if you want to travel at a peak time. (they use "or more" but some people new to cruising and going by this info may find themselves disappointed)

I agree with the six months may not be far enough in advance sentiment. We often book more than a year in advance. SOMETIMES you get better pricing that way, too. (Especially if a major holiday falls during your druise.)

You are absolutely right about booking far in advance if you want a particular cabin.
I was so shocked that because I booked very late on a cruise - didn't care where I stayed - that I was considered some type of welfare client being subsidized by those who booked early, because I got a really good fare.(Those who paid more insisted that they were subsidizing those of us who got a reduced fare. There is always a trade-off. It all depends on what is important to you. Paying more and booking early to get a perfect cabin is a good idea; waiting until the last minute to get a good price because you will take any cabin just to go on a cruise is a good idea. It's still a risk.
For me, price is always a consideration; for others, having the perfect cabin is the ultimate in importance and the best reason for booking early. Neither is right nor wrong. Wouldn't life be boring if we all wanted the exact same experience?

    Right On Ma Cruise!!!
The joy in life is the variety and the wonderful folks you meet along the way. When you think about this there are some people that might never experience the joys of the sea without the discounts!!
