Question Travel Iron: Bring or Don't Bring?

I know that travel irons are not allowed on some lines and vessels. Do you bring yours along? Which lines allow and don't allow travel irons?

What do you do as an alternative to ironing? Have you had success with on-board steamers, which some lines provide?

Travel irons are a no-no on ships, steamers do not work well. I use 2 gallon size ziplock bags
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

I do NOT go on a cruise to do drudge work. As far as I'm concerned, that's crazy talk!

The ship's pressing service does a great job for a reasonable price.

I have actually learned how to pack so our clothes arrive in wrinkle free condition! (dry cleaner bags and 2 1/2 gallon size zip lock bags) Haven't needed to use the pressing service, but have used laundry and dry cleaning.

If needed, we use the iron in the self-service laundry rooms on Princess. I usually don't, but my hubby will iron his dress shirt for formal night after he washes it (he likes to bring as little luggage as possible and he refuses to pay for the ship to wash our washables).

I dont do it at home so I am not going to do it while on vacation!!
    Crazy talk indeed

Royal Caribbean does not provide self-service laundry. Their pressing service is very good and reasonable.

We carry a small travel steamer with us and it works great! Most of the time we'll just hang the stuff we're going to wear the next day in the bathroom when we take a hot shower and allow the steam to do the work for us. Occasionally, we use the ships' pressing service, since they offer it at a reasonable fee. But this is only for more important stuff, like the formal attire if it's need.

I use a small steamer I got at Walgreens for the heavy creases, otherwise what are a few wrinkles...Have used wrinkle release, but it is too hard to pack without leakage when flying, so gave up on it.
On board pressing service is Ok, but had problem with coffe stain on white suit actually ended up bigger. Now carry Tide to go for the touch ups and have coordinated the clothes so everything matches and no need to wash separates.
