Our group will be traveling by bus to the ship so no airport worries.
Do the cruise ships have restrictions as to what we can have in our 'carry-on" bags? Will our carry-ons be searched at any point.
Thanks to everyone who contributes - I've really learned a lot of neat stuff.
The no-nos for carry ons for the ship are mostly the dangerous type....weapons, candles, clothes irons, illegal drugs, that kind of thing. Also, depending on the cruise line, booze. Some allow limited amounts of wine, some none at all. It's a hit or miss proposition with the adult beverages...some get caught and some do not.
Your carry ons will be X-rayed just like at the airport and if they see anything suspicious they will have you open the bag so that they can search it. Doesn't happen very often.

Q: What items are not allowed onboard the cruise ship?
A: Aside from the obvious (and illegal) items not allowed onboard, there are other items we cannot accommodate onboard. These items will be confiscated upon being found.
Prohibited items: Candles Coffee Makers Electrical Transformers (not including personal electronics: cell phone chargers, laptop power adapters etc.) Flammable Liquids and Explosives (such as fireworks) HAM radio equipment Hockey sticks Illegal Drugs Irons/Clothes Steamers Personal Alcohol Skateboards Surfboards
