    Passport question

When getting off the ship for excursions, should we bring our passports with us?

I recommend, to bring the passport with you...and keep a photo copy in the safe just in case. I also recommend keeping a copy at home as well.

Make sure you bring your passport, that day's copy of your ship newsletter (will have the time you need to be already back on board as well as the name of the port agent), your sign and sail card.

And make sure you check to see if the ship's time matches the local time.

On our last cruise (last September) the Celebrity Today had "Take Your Passports" notices each sea day.

it's always a good idea to carry them when ashore.

I always had just my drivers license and sign and sail card with me when I left the ship, should I really be taking my passport with me when I get off???

Now that the US is getting tighter with security carrying your passport seems to be a good idea no matter where you are. In Europe we always take it off the ship with us, but in the Caribbean we never did--but now we will.

In the Caribbean we only take a COPY of our Passport with us. Just there in January on a cruise for 14 days with many port stops -- never a problem!

I was wondering if a copy would be OK. Thanks for mentioning that. We are also going to the Caribbean. I would be worried about something happening to our passports.
