Thread: Cruise Insurance (not with Cruise Line)

Usually when I cruise I obtain insurance thru the cruise line. I've decided this is not the most cost effective option. Is it better to obtain cruise insurance thru a travel agent or would it be better to use one of the online services? Finally, if anyone has an experience with a claim, is it difficult to get your money back from these travel insurance carriers?

We have used Access America for quite a few years.

Had to file a claim only once - back in 2002. It took about 4 - 6 weeks for us to get our money back.

Mostly I've purchased through the TA, never the cruise line. This year I went through Travel Guard. Fortunately, I've never had to use it, so can't tell you about collecting.

When we first began cruising, we purchased through the cruise line; then, we began using cruise insurance from our TA ... a very long time ago.

In '99 we had to cancel our cruise because of an accident! Our TA took care of it totally! Same as KK ... took about a month!
