    Passport Question

I have a question. If I have my passports, do I also need to bring birth certificates?

No Deb, a passport will do. But please be sure to make a copy of it and keep in a separate place in case of loss of the original.

Nope! You needed your BC to get the passport in the first place, so you can leave that unnecessary piece of paper at home once you have the passport!

Hanna's right...make a copy of your passport (the picture page) and put a copy in each of your suitcases...not only is it good in case you lose your passport, but also good in case your luggage gets lost!

As well as my passport, I take my driver's license so that I have a smaller photo ID if needed to get back on the ship. There are some ports where they requite a photo ID as well as your ship card to get back on the ship.

    Hi,
Nope, when u have your passport, that means u have slightly less 2 carry and worry about.
But don't forget your drivers license with the picture on it, they will need that 2.

    ps, enjoy your trip.

I agree, besides a driver license is much easier to replace if lost than a DL

    I want to share...

what has been going on with my passport application. (hopefully it will help someone that has to apply )

I applied May 22nd. For weeks on line it said it was being processed and I would receive it by July 7th. When I didn't receive it, I looked on line again, and it said they had attempted to call me, please call them. ( I never received a call, I have caller ID and it would have shown the missed call )

Anyways, they said since I had a name change in my life, I needed to provide proof.

I called them last night, and they told me I needed 3 forms of public record showing who I am. I thought about it a bit and called back. The next lady told me just to send my marraige license. I told her I had been married twice, and she said just send my most recent license. Well I got to thinking, my recent license shows my ex's name marrying my current name, still wouldn't match up to my birth name etc. So I called today and asked to talk to a supervisor. I explained the situation and she said I must now provide a whole certified paper trail from birth to my current marraige . ( hopefully my last lol )

Anyways, I got 3 answers from 3 people. I asked the last lady, why don't the application offices tell you that , or even the web site, but they don't. It has been almost 9 weeks now and I have to get a "certified paper trail" of my name changes. (including divorce decrees) . I was lucky and was born , married, divorced, etc in the same county , so a very nice lady told me today she will have it all in the mail to me tomorrow ! I then have to mail it to the processing site, and who knows how much longer that will take !

Hopefully this info will prevent any of you women that have been married/ divorced/ married etc . Get certified copies of ALL your name changes and send them with your application, even if the lady at the receiving counter tells you you don't need them. Tell them you want to send them anyway, you will need them if you get the same processing person I did !
( i did originally send my birth certificate and brought picture ID and photo as it tells you to on the application )

    Hope this helps someone !

    Thumbs down

Wow!! I didn't have to do that!! I guess now that you're going through that I'm surprised they didn't make me but sooo glad I didn't!!

At least you should only have to do that once...? Will you have to do that when you renew?
Good Luck!! Do you need it in a hurry?
