I am the Researcher at home and here!

We (my husband and I) sit down and talk about what general area we want to go and when. Then I check the options on line, or order catalogs.

When there are too many options, I ask for more specifics, or divide them up into categories - whatever seems the best way to narrow things down.

When we have picked the itinerary, then I present the options for cabins. And after that is worked out, I'm the one who contacts the TA and gets things going.

It's VERY likely that all of us who post on this board are the ones who do the planning for the cruise!

Honestly, my DH often has no clue where we are going or what we'll be doing.

He does LOVE to cruise and just tells me to pick things "he would like". Works for me!

That is a pretty good assumtion.
I do all the planning here.

My DW usually does not care where we are going until about 2 weeks before we leave. She does not like long flights so I spoiled her last time we flew to Florida, First Class. Now she does not care to go back to cruising out of there until we have enough FF miles to go First Class again.

Several times I have booked cruises and not told her until it was close to sailing.

I stopped over-planning two cruises ago. I had a large three-ring binder with a picture of the ship on it, maps of each stop, airport layouts, bus schedule from airport, docking schedules, tables of average temperatures for that month for each stop (weather.com), fold out maps of Vancouver, a detailed itinerary, and a table of each one in our group detailing: booking numbers, past guest numbers flight numbers, flight times, etc.

I was laughed at a bit.....until someone had a question

When hubbie and I go together, I do all the planning and just tell him what to pack and what time we are leaving. I have cruised mostly with Jan and we do the planning together. We usually agree on most everything or reach a good compramise.

I do all the research, but the planning is a joint operation.

I do all the research and all the planning and all the packing. If I left it up to DH, we would never cruise. I LOVE it, he tolerates it because I love it.
